Join us for a webinar organised by the Ethics, Evidence, and Policy Network and the Ethics Advice Mechanism to the European Commission, where we will consider these and other questions on the role of values in science-policy advice. A panel of speakers will discuss the recently launched REAL method evidence report and other ways to embed ethical considerations into policy decisions.

The panel includes:

  • Prof Barbara Prainsack, Director of the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Solidarity at the University of Vienna, and Chair of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies
  • Prof Jessica Pykett and Dr Marija Antanavičiūtė will present their work on Rapid Ethis Assessment and Learning.
  • Prof Federica Lucivero, an associate professor in ethics of technology at the Ethox Centre, the Oxford Centre for Ethics and Humanities and Oxford Population Health.
  • Prof Maxwell Smith from Western University in Ontario, Canada, will reflect on his ethics-to-policy experiences as a co-chair of the Public Health Agency of Canada's Public Health Ethics Consultative Group.

Participants are invited to watch a short introduction video about the REAL Method, read the evidence report, as well as the blog on the method. The REAL method for structuring rapid ethics assessment was developed in the UK with the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the Faculty of Public Health and the Ethics and Expertise research team.

This event is in the past.
