The first of these Opinions is expected to be delivered during the second quarter of 2027 and will focus on the responsible use of AI in Science. It will help inform the implementation of the Commission's A European Strategy for Artificial Intelligence in Science: Paving the way for the Resource for AI Science in Europe (RAISE). EthAM's advice will contribute to ensuring that RAISE supports the development of AI systems that are ethical, explainable, transparent, accountable, reliable, safe, human-centric, and aligned with human rights and societal values.
In the following quarter, EthAM will turn its attention to the EU Strategy on Intergenerational Fairness through an Opinion on Fair Digital Futures, AI and Digital Public Goods. This work will contribute to discussions on how future digital policy can secure broad access to digital infrastructure, promote inclusive skills development across all ages, and support the human-centred deployment of AI and other innovations that expand opportunities rather than reinforce divides.
Finally, during the last quarter of 2027, EthAM will submit an Opinion on the Trustworthy and Responsible Governance of AI in the EU Energy System and How to Safeguard Public Trust. Contributing to the implementation of the EU's Strategic Roadmap on Digitalisation and AI in the Energy Sector, this work will examine how transparency, explainability, and human oversight can be ensured in AI technologies embedded within critical energy infrastructures, while maintaining human oversight in critical infrastructure such as data centers.
